The General Electric WR55X28411 Defrost Sensor Cable helps in monitoring the temperature of the evaporator coil all the time the ice layer is thick enough, the low temperature is sensed by the sensor, and the control board is informed to start the defrosting process. This warms the defrost heater which melts the thick frost and clears blockages within the cooling system, the temperature is back to the optimal level, and the defrosting procedure is halted to avoid further waste of energy and maintain proper temperature control.
