The Whirlpool WPW10244639 Range Infinite Switch controls the burner heat by modulating electrical current to the heating element depending on the position of the knob. It changes resistance internally to limit power levels, giving a smooth transition between low, medium and high.

Installation Steps
Step 1: The range is disconnected from the electrical outlet and it is ensured that all power is turned off.
Step 2: The screws are taken out from the front panel of the range that secure the top panel. The top panel is elevated to gain access to the burner control switch located behind it.
Step 3: The wiring is detached from the existing burner control switch. The wire colors and their corresponding terminals are remembered.
Step 4: The two screws that secure the existing burner control switch are extracted.
Step 5: The new burner control switch is positioned by following the reverse order of the previous step.
Step 6: The wires are reattached to the new burner control switch in the identical manner as they were connected to the previous switch.
Step 7: The top panel is reinstalled onto the range and it is fastened with the screws.
Step 8: The range is reconnected to the wall outlet and the power supply to the range is activated.
Step 9: The functionality of the new burner control switch is verified to ensure it operates correctly.
