The Whirlpool WP7538P008-60 Range Venturi is an essential component of your gas range's burner system. It is a tiny, funnel-shaped component that rests underneath the burner cap. As you turn on the burner, gas travels through the venturi. The venturi form creates a short tunnel, increasing gas velocity. This fast-moving gas stream generates a low-pressure zone around the venturi. Air from the nearby kitchen is drawn into this low-pressure zone, mixing with the gas to generate a flammable mixture. This air-gas mixture is then driven upwards into the burner cap, where it ignites and produces the classic blue flame seen during cooking.
