Product Description

The Whirlpool WP3979346 Washer Water Inlet Valve works by controlling the flow of hot and cold water into the washing machine. When the washer begins a cycle, it sends an electrical signal to the valve’s solenoids, causing them to open and allow water to enter. Once the required water level is reached, the signal stops, and the valve closes to prevent overflow. This process ensures that the washer receives the correct water temperature and amount needed for effective cleaning. By regulating water flow with precision, the valve helps maintain consistent washing performance, prevents leaks, and ensures that clothes are thoroughly cleaned with the right balance of water throughout each cycle.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Assemble Your Tools and Materials – Prior to beginning, ensure all required tools and materials are possessed. A Phillips screwdriver, pliers, duct tape, wire cutters, and an exact replacement valve for your washer will be needed.

Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply – The two screws securing the face plate on the wall should be removed, followed by the water supply to the washer being turned off. If there is no individual valve, the main water valve may need to be turned off.

Step 3: Detach the Hoses – Each hose linked to the current water inlet valve should be gently disconnected. Each hose should be labeled so that they can be reconnected correctly.

Step 4: Take Out Old Inlet Valve – Your Phillips screwdriver should be used to detach the mounting bracket from the wall. Once it is loose, the valve should be pulled out and disposed of.

Step 5: Position New Inlet Valve – The new valve should be placed in the same location as the previous one, then the mounting bracket should be reattached. The water supply lines should be connected, ensuring they are securely tightened.

Step 6: Verify New Valve – The water supply should be reactivated and any leaks should be inspected. If there are no leaks, the new valve should be tested by operating the washer. Once everything functions correctly, you are set to go!

Please note that these instructions serve as general guidance and should always be utilized alongside the manufacturer's manual, if available.
