The Whirlpool WP2003003 Exchanger (Dw1) is a critical component in several Whirlpool refrigerators. This part, which is also sometimes called a heat exchanger, is necessary for the refrigerator to cool down. The way it operates is by moving heat from the refrigerator's inside, where it keeps food cold, to the coils outside, where it may be released into the surrounding atmosphere. Heat is evaporated when the refrigerant passes through the exchanger and absorbs the warm air within the refrigerator. After arriving at the compressor, the refrigerant is compressed and transformed back into a liquid. When the refrigerant is liquid, it passes through the exterior coils to release the heat it has received before going back to the exchanger to absorb additional heat and start the cycle again.
