The Whirlpool W11734764 Refrigerator Drip Pan is used to capture and hold water produced during the appliance's automatic defrost process. It is normally placed at the bottom back part of the refrigerator cabinet, under the evaporator drain outlet and close to the compressor compartment where the condensate is transported through a drain tube into the pan, which enables the wet moisture to spread on its surface. It uses passive evaporation with the support of compressor heat and airflow inside the area to collect defrost water and assist in maintaining constant moisture during regular refrigeration and defrost operation cycles.
