The Whirlpool W10549523 Microwave Filter is used to extract airborne grease and particulates in the ventilation system to retain the integrity of the internal airflow. It is mounted on the exhaust system of the microwave, normally behind the front grill of the cooking cavity and is attached directly to the air intake housing. The mesh or carbon media traps the contaminants and allows airflow, which is then combined with the fan and ducting controls to control circulation and odor in the operation cycles by providing uniform ventilation and thermal stability during regular cooking and sustained performance during repeated operation cycles.
