The Whirlpool R0168027 Refrigerator Freezer Top-Defrost Timer controls automatic defrost when using a top-mount appliance. It turns the system to cooling and defrost on the set time intervals to avoid the formation of frost on the cooling coils and has an internal timing motor and contacts that move through cooling and defrost cycles depending on the time that has passed. It is mounted in the control compartment in the rear of the refrigerator panel, and it is connected to the wiring harness.
