Step 1: Power must be disconnected from the appliance by either unplugging it or turning off the circuit breaker in the breaker box.
Step 2: The access panel located at the back of the appliance must be detached. For certain models, this may involve taking out several screws.
Step 3: The drain pump assembly, which should be positioned near the bottom of the appliance and typically secured by two screws, must be identified.
Step 4: The two screws must be removed and the old pump assembly must be taken out.
Step 5: After the old assembly has been taken out, the hoses and tubing must be examined for any indications of damage or corrosion. Any components that seem damaged or corroded must be replaced prior to the new drain pump assembly being installed.
Step 6: The new drain pump assembly must be taken and the inlet and outlet tubes must be attached to the appropriate fittings on the pump.
Step 7: The new assembly must be fastened with the two screws and the access panel must be reattached.
Step 8: Power must be restored to the appliance and the functionality of the new drain pump assembly must be tested.
