Installation Steps

Step 1: The required tools and materials for the task - a Phillips screwdriver, WD01X10569 GE Door Cable, and (optional) lubricant spray - are assembled.

Step 2: The refrigerator or freezer is disconnected from its electrical supply.

Step 3: The door is ensured fully closed, as it must stay in this position during the repair.

Step 4: The screws that hold the upper hinge cover in place are identified.

Step 5: A screwdriver is employed to take out the screws, then the cover is gently slid off.

Step 6: The damaged door cable is found and detached by pulling its plug from the socket.

Step 7: The new door cable is threaded through the upper hinge flange of the door and attached to the rear side of the top hinge bracket.

Step 8: The plug from the new door cable is reinserted into the socket.

Step 9: The upper hinge cover is positioned back over the door cable, then it is secured with the screws.

Step 10: The refrigerator or freezer is reconnected to the power supply and the door switch functionality is verified.

Step 11: (Optional) A light lubricant is applied to the hinge and cable for enhanced performance if preferred.
