Product Description

The Whirlpool W11460963 Dishwasher Base Pump is an essential device that's liable for guaranteeing sparkling clean dishes in your Whirlpool dishwasher. It functions as the heart of the water circulation system. During the wash cycle, the base pump pumps water from the dishwasher reservoir. It then pressurizes and circulates the water via the spray arms, effectively showering your dishes throughout the washing process. This pressured water flow is critical for removing food particles and guaranteeing thorough cleaning. A properly working base pump is critical for maintaining enough water pressure and circulation, resulting in excellent cleaning performance. When the base pump fails, it might cause a variety of complications. You may see food residue on dishes or foggy glasses as a result of insufficient water flow.

Installation Steps

Step 1: The power supply to the washer is disconnected by removing the plug from the wall socket. It is ensured that the washer is free of water prior to proceeding to the next step.

Step 2: The lid of the washer is lifted. A towel or cloth is inserted between the lid and the washer tub to avoid any potential scratches.

Step 3: The two-part pump housing is identified: the motor situated on the left side of the washer, and the housing base located on the right side.

Step 4: The hose clamps are detached from the two hoses linked to the pump motor. A flathead screwdriver is employed to loosen the clamps.

Step 5: The two hoses are carefully extracted from the motor. The hoses are set aside to prevent any damage during the remainder of the repair.

Step 6: A socket wrench is utilized to take out the three screws that secure the pump motor to the housing base. After the screws are taken out, the pump motor is elevated.

Step 7: The new pump motor is positioned into the housing base. The new motor is fastened with the three screws.

Step 8: The two hoses are reattached to the new motor. It is confirmed that the hoses are firmly secured before proceeding.

Step 9: The hose clamps are reinstalled onto the hoses. Again, a flathead screwdriver is used to ensure that the clamps are tight.

Step 10: The washer lid is closed. The washer is reconnected to the wall outlet, and the power supply is restored.

Step 11: The new pump motor is evaluated by initiating a cycle. It is verified that the washer is draining correctly before concluding the repair.
