Product Description

The Whirlpool W10913953 Washer Shift Actuator ensures smooth functioning by controlling the movement of the washer’s drum. It works by shifting the motor and enabling precise movements during different wash cycles. The actuator is activated through electrical signals sent from the control board, directing the motor to rotate in a desired direction. This results in efficient, accurate washing performance. Ensuring proper motor alignment enhances the longevity of the washer and minimizes damage and tear on internal components.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Disconnect and Unplug the Washer – Prior to initiating your repair of the Whirlpool washer shift actuator, it is essential for the washer to be disconnected and unplugged from all power sources. Additionally, it should be verified if there are any other power sources, such as a gas line, that must be disconnected before commencing the repair.

Step 2: Access the Actuator – Next, the actuator that requires replacement needs to be reached. Start by taking off the top cover to access the screws located at the back of the washer that hold the rear panel in place. These screws along with the panel should be removed. At this point, the actuator will be visible.

Step 3: Remove the Actuator – After the rear panel has been removed, the electrical connector and the screws for the motor mount should be detached to release the motor. The actuator should now be able to be slid out from its mounting location.

Step 4: Install the New Actuator – With the old actuator removed, the new actuator should be placed into the same position and the motor mount screws reattached. Following this, the electrical connector should be reconnected.

Step 5: Cleanup and Test – Once the actuator replacement has been completed, it should ensure that all connections are secure and that no components are left inside the washing machine. The rear panel should be reattached, fastened with the screws, and the top cover replaced. The washer should be reconnected to the power source and a test conducted to confirm that the new actuator is functioning properly.

Please note that these instructions serve as general guidance and should always be referenced alongside the manufacturer's manual, if available.
