Installation Steps

Step 1: Shut off the water supply. The main water shutoff valve should be closed, which is generally found near the water meter.

Step 2: Extract the old valve. The two mounting screws securing the valve should be loosened and taken out with a Phillips screwdriver. Then, the old valve should be detached from the water supply line using an adjustable wrench.

Step 3: Clear the connection points. A rag and/or brush should be used to wipe down the existing connection points, ensuring they are free from debris or corrosion.

Step 4: Set up the new valve. Plumber's tape should be wrapped around the threaded connections of the new valve. The new valve should be hand-tightened into the water supply line with the aid of an adjustable wrench. The valve should be fastened using the two mounting screws.

Step 5: Verify the valve. The main water shutoff valve should be reactivated, and then the handle of the new Whirlpool W10865826 valve should be turned to confirm it is functioning correctly.
