The Smeg KITFC142 Range Hood Recirculation Kit is used to change from vent-to-outside mode to recirculation mode when no external ducting is provided. It has elements like a filter and accessories that assist in capturing and removing smells and grease due to the fume of cooking air as it is pulled through the hood and then pumped back into the kitchen. The kit is installed in the internal filter housing of the range hood, and incoming air will pass through the filter and it will be recirculated.
