The Rinnai 104000281 Water Heater Primary Heat Exchanger Kit is an extension that is supposed to conduct the energy generated by the burner to the liquid passing through the system. Its use is to properly heat water by absorbing the thermal energy of combustion gases. The kit works by using a combination of metal tubes which increase the amount of surface contact between the hot gases, and the water, which enables quick, and even heat transfer. It is installed in the combustion chamber of the water boiler, and it is attached to the burner assembly and the water inlet and outlet lines.
