The Williams Furnace P271100 Flame Sensor NS regulates the presence of an appliance within the furnace burner assembly. It works by producing a low-voltage electrical signal when exposed to a flame and this signal is communicated to the control board to notify that the ignition has been successful. It is mounted close to the burner such that it detects the flame directly and assists the furnace to sustain safe ignition cycles, avoiding the flow of gas in the absence of a flame.
