Product Description

The Whirlpool LA-1003 Dryer Door Latch Lock Strike Catch is a small but essential component of your dryer's locking mechanism. It is a metal plate located on the dryer's frame that the door latch hooks onto to keep the door closed. When you close the dryer door, the latch clicks into place on the strike catch, sealing the door securely during the drying cycle. A malfunctioning strike catch may cause the latch to fail, preventing the door from shutting properly. This is a safety danger because the dryer will not start if the door is not secured. It can also result in poor drying because hot air may escape out of the dryer door.

Installation Steps

Step 1: Begin by disconnecting your dryer from the electrical outlet. Next, the two screws located on the interior side of the door that fasten the catch and metal strike to the front panel of the dryer should be identified.

Step 2: With a Phillips screwdriver, the screws should be taken out and placed aside.

Step 3: The catch and metal strike should be extracted from the door opening.

Step 4: The new catch and metal strike should be positioned exactly where the old components were situated. It should ensure that the metal strike aligns correctly with the door latch.

Step 5: The catch and metal strike should be fastened to the front panel using the two screws that were previously extracted.

Step 6: Your dryer plug should be reinserted into the wall outlet and it should be verified that the new catch and metal strike hold the door securely as intended.

Step 7: Now that the replacement is finished, your laundry tasks can be returned to.
