The Supco IG4000 Flat Super Furnace Igniter Kit is used to initiate burner lighting in gas heating systems. It works by using a flat the heating element that increases in temperature when electrical current passes through it, reaching ignition levels required for gas combustion. The igniter is installed near the burner assembly and connected to the ignition circuit through used wiring terminals within the furnace compartment. It interfaces with the control system to trigger startup sequences and supports consistent burner ignition and stable heating performance during furnace operation.
Step 1: The current igniter module is identified and detached by disconnecting it from the electrical outlet.
Step 2: A putty knife is employed to gently eliminate any insulation or additional debris obstructing access to the igniter module.
Step 3: The screws securing the previous module are extracted.
Step 4: The old module is removed and disposed of in an appropriate manner.
Step 5: The vicinity surrounding the installation area is cleared using a vacuum or damp cloth to eliminate any grime or dust.
Step 6: Your new Supco Flat Furnace Igniter Super Kit (IG4000) is unboxed and the mounting plate along with the new igniter module is retrieved.
Step 7: The new module is attached to the wiring harness of your furnace.
Step 8: The module is fastened securely using the mounting plate and screws included in the kit.
Step 9: The new module is verified by powering on the system and observing for a spark when the furnace ignites. If it operates correctly, the replacement has been successfully completed!
