The General Electric WR51X39445 Refrigerator Defrost Heater & Harness is used to melt the frost on the evaporator coils to ensure efficient cooling. It operates by having a heating component attached to a wiring harness which provides electric current during preset defrost sessions. It is installed inside of the freezer compartment, usually behind the evaporator panel, and will be connected to the control system. It facilitates even movement of air over the coils and aids in ensuring a consistent cooling operation during normal operation.
