The Amana 59164484 Microwave Damper Assembly controls the airflow between the cooking cavity and the vent system to control the exhaust of steam and heat. It is placed within the ventilation path of the microwave and is attached to the linkage and ductwork around it. The damper is open or closed to allow the passage of hot air and moisture to the exhaust or back into the cavity, respectively. It is positioned in a way that allows it to be in contact with fans and control systems to allow it manage airflow and maintain the thermal conditions during multiple cooking periods.
