The Whirlpool 74004053 Range Top Burner Igniter is a spark generating component that triggers the gas to explode into a flame. Its function is to produce an electrical spark, which illuminates the gas when a burner is switched on. The igniter works by producing a high voltage spark at the end of the burner whenever the control is switched on, which will ensure instant ignition of the gas flow. Installation Steps

Step 1: The range is disconnected from the electrical outlet and all burner valves are deactivated.

Step 2: The cooktop is elevated and the screws securing the burner are cautiously taken out.

Step 3: The old 74004053 Whirlpool Range Cooktop Top Burner Electrode Spark Igniter is extracted.
