Installation Steps

Step 1: All electrical power to the washer should be disconnected. Either the power cord should be unplugged or, if it’s hardwired, the circuit breaker supplying power to the washer should be switched off.

Step 2: The washer lid should be lifted. The fasteners that hold the top cover in place should be unscrewed and the cover should be gently removed.

Step 3: The timer assembly, positioned atop the main control board, should be identified. It is connected to the board through a four-wire harness.

Step 4: The four-wire harness should be detached from the timer assembly.

Step 5: With a screwdriver, the fasteners securing the timer assembly should be unscrewed and the timer should be taken out.

Step 6: The new 285938 Whirlpool Washer Timer should be placed. The wiring harness should be properly connected, then the timer should be fastened with the screws.

Step 7: The top cover should be reattached and secured using the screws.

Step 8: The washer should be reconnected by plugging it in or turning on the circuit breaker. All power should be restored.

Step 9: The operation of the washer should be verified to confirm the timer is working correctly.

Please note that general assistance is provided by these instructions and the manufacturer's manual should always be utilized alongside them, if accessible.
