The Frigidaire 240356221 Refrigerator Defrost Heater is a resistance heating element that melts frost that forms on the evaporator coil. It is fitted underneath, or next to the evaporator unit on the inside of the freezer compartment, and it is connected with the defrost control circuit through electric terminals built into the wiring harness. The heater produces controlled thermal energy when commanded by the control system to eliminate the accumulation of ice that hinders airflow efficiency to maintain uniform temperature conditions throughout the normal cycles.
