Installation Steps

Step 1: Your Whirlpool Refrigerator should be disconnected from the power source and the water supply should be turned off.

Step 2: The rear cover of the refrigerator should be found and detached.

Step 3: The ground wire should be disconnected from the BI-metal defrost thermostat.

Step 4: Any additional wires linked to the thermostat should be detached.

Step 5: The screws that hold the thermostat to the evaporator coil should be removed.

Step 6: The BI-metal defrost thermostat should be carefully extracted and disposed of.

Step 7: The new BI-metal defrost thermostat should be positioned in the identical location as the old one.

Step 8: The thermostat should be fastened to the evaporator coil with the screws that were previously removed.

Step 9: The ground wire along with all wires that were disconnected from the thermostat should be reattached.

Step 10: The back cover of the refrigerator should be reinstalled and the power should be reconnected.

Step 11: The water supply should be activated and it should be verified that the new thermostat functions correctly.
