Installation Steps
Step 2: The WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat should be identified within the hot water heater; it should be positioned on the side wall roughly four inches from the tank's bottom.
Step 3: The thermostat cover should be gently detached using a Phillips head screwdriver. Caution should be exercised to avoid harming any wires or connections adjacent to the thermostat.
Step 4: The red and black wires should be unplugged from the old thermostat with needle nose pliers and the old thermostat should be carefully extracted.
Step 5: The new WP3977767 Whirlpool High Limit Thermostat should be inserted into the same location as the previous one.
Step 6: The red and black wires should be reconnected utilizing the needle nose pliers.
Step 7: The thermostat cover and screws should be put back in place.
