Installation Steps

Step 1: Disconnect the Dryer. Prior to initiating any repair activities, it is crucial to ensure the dryer is disconnected from the power source. The electricity should be turned off at the main breaker panel for your residence, then the plug of the power cord should be located and detached from the wall outlet.

Step 2: Remove the Top Panel. With the dryer’s top accessible, a Phillips screwdriver should be employed to extract two screws positioned on each side. This action will enable the removal of the top panel, granting access to the rear of the dryer.

Step 3: Detach the Old Electrode. A flathead screwdriver and needle-nose pliers should be utilized to gently disconnect the wires from the existing electrode. Once the wires are separated, the old electrode should be unscrewed and taken out.

Step 4: Position the New Electrode. With the wires still disconnected, the new electrode should be brought to the dryer and set in place. After the new electrode is secured, the wires should be reconnected. It should ensure that the wires are wrapped around the screws in a clockwise manner and that there are no loose connections.

Step 5: Verify the New Electrode. After the new electrode is in place and all connections are tight, power should be restored by turning the switch back on. The new electrode should be tested by running a cycle and monitoring for any signs of overheating. If everything seems to function properly, power should be powered down and the top panel should be reattached.

Congratulations – Your Whirlpool Electrode has been effectively replaced!
