Installation Steps

Step 1: Ensure the oven is disconnected from the power source prior to commencing the repair. For hardwired ovens, the power is deactivated at the circuit breaker.

Step 2: Begin by unscrewing the fasteners that secure the back cover to the oven. After the screws are removed, the back cover is lifted upward and out.

Step 3: The bake element can be found at the base of the oven cavity. With a putty knife or screwdriver, the two ends of the bake element are gently pried from the mounting bracket. Be aware that there may be screws fastening the bake element to the bracket, so note of which ones need to be removed is taken.

Step 4: After the old bake element has been taken out, continue with connecting the new one. Start by attaching the red wire to the terminal labeled in red. Then, the black wire is attached to the terminal labeled in black. Lastly, the white wire is connected to the terminal labeled in white.

Step 5: Once all wiring is completed, the bake element is repositioned into place and secured with the screws that were previously removed. Ensure that the screws are tightened adequately to hold the bake element firmly.

Step 6: After the bake element is secured, the cover can be put back on by sliding it into position and fastening it with the screws.

Step 7: Lastly, power is restored to the oven and its functionality is checked. The oven door is opened and it is verified whether heat is emanating from the bake element. If there is no heat, the wiring is rechecked and the procedure is repeated. If heat is present, the W10779716 Whirlpool Bake Element has been successfully replaced!
