Installation Steps

Step 1: Your trash compactor should be disconnected from the electrical outlet.

Step 2: The screws that hold the lid in position should be taken out, then the lid should be removed.

Step 3: The upper compactor bag should be opened, the motor assembly should be identified, and the wires connected to it should be detached.

Step 4: The screws that secure the motor assembly should be loosened and then the assembly should be taken out.

Step 5: The drive gear should be inspected for any signs of wear or damage. If any is found, it should be substituted with the 882699 Whirlpool Trash Compactor Drive Gear Kit.

Step 6: The new drive gear kit should be positioned onto the motor shaft and it should be fastened securely using the screws that were previously removed.

Step 7: The wiring should be reattached to the motor assembly.

Step 8: The assembly should be inserted back into the compactor and it should be fastened with the screws.

Step 9: The lid should be repositioned onto the compactor and it should be secured with the screws.

Step 10: Your trash compactor should be reconnected to the power supply and it should be tested to ensure that the new drive gear kit operates correctly.
